Joan Farago is an accomplished artist and teacher in drawing, painting, and printmaking. She draws inspiration from emotional and spiritual life experience blending eastern and western philosophy into her art. Her emotional landscapes capture a unique visual drama and dimension that is characteristic of her art.

I am very proud to announce that I was one of the artists selected for the Large Painting Show at Detroit Artists Market (DAM) beginning Sept.14thru Oct 20th 2012. My entry is a large 4 panel (9 feet high by 6 feet wide) painting entitled "Formational Rhythms" which is very special piece and unique for my work. The human form is starting to show up again in my landscapes probably the result of my inner healing classwork. This piece concerns the inner being and its outside influences. Come and see all the artwork at DAM located on 4719 Woodward Ave Detroit, MI. near Wayne State University campus.

Prints and Paintings

Joan’s paintings and prints are stylized with a strong circular visual and unique use of contrasting color. She affects the surface of each canvas by dripping one color into another, scratching into areas, adding textured effects and blending. By using all these methods, she pays homage to the relationship we have with each other and the spiritual realm that she believes surrounds us. Her one-of-a-kind prints employ the traditional methods of linoleum and wood cut, intaglio, monotype and Japanese moku-hanga using eco friendly water base inks and paints. Each print is hand rubbed and pulled, integrating and combining drawing and painting materials.

Joan has participated in many juried and invitational shows. Her work can be found in galleries, private and corporate collections. Joan maintains a studio in the Pioneer Bldg. 2679 East Grand Blvd. Detroit, Michigan 48211
